Hezbollah Launches 140 Rockets at Northern Israel in Retaliation

Hezbollah has fired 140 rockets into northern Israel on Friday. This attack comes just one day after the militant group’s leader, Hassan Nasrallah, pledged to retaliate against Israel following a devastating bombing attack.

The Israeli military reported that the rockets were launched in three distinct waves, targeting various locations along the troubled border with Lebanon. Hezbollah claimed to have aimed at several strategic sites, including multiple air defense bases and the headquarters of an Israeli armored brigade, marking what they stated was a successful strike for the first time.

This rocket barrage is described as retaliation for recent Israeli strikes on villages and civilian homes in southern Lebanon. Since the onset of the Israel-Hamas war on October 8, Hezbollah and Israel have been engaged in near-daily exchanges of fire. However, Friday’s attacks represented a significant increase in intensity.

Despite recent setbacks, including the sabotage of Hezbollah’s communication devices, which Nasrallah called a “severe blow,” he reaffirmed his commitment to continue daily strikes against Israel. The two days of attacks, widely attributed to Israel, have raised concerns about an escalation into a broader conflict, although Israel has neither confirmed nor denied involvement.
