The mother of the intern doctor who was allegedly raped and murdered at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital has urged West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to be more transparent about the actions being taken against the perpetrators. Speaking to reporters at her residence in North Kolkata on Saturday, the victim’s mother expressed hope that discussions between the Chief Minister and the protesting doctors would yield results.
She criticized the Chief Minister’s comments, suggesting that merely stating that “anyone found guilty will be punished” was insufficient. Given the destruction of evidence at the crime scene and the arrest of only one individual so far, she expected more clarity and precision from the Chief Minister.
The victim’s mother acknowledged that any effort to resolve the deadlock caused by the doctors’ strike over the past month was welcome. However, she demanded the arrest of all those involved in the crime and the officials who tried to cover it up. She also urged the state government not to take any punitive action against the protesting doctors who are fighting for justice.
