Prayagraj – A stone-pelting incident was reported on the Mahabodhi Express traveling from Delhi to Gaya (Bihar) on Monday night. The incident occurred around 9 PM near the Yamuna Bridge, just a short distance from Prayagraj. Miscreants hurled stones at the train, one of which struck the guard’s brake panel. Fortunately, no passengers or railway staff were injured during the incident.
Following the guard’s report, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) arrived at the scene and filed a case to investigate the matter. The train was on its way to Mirzapur after departing from Prayagraj. Shashikant Tripathi, the Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of the North Central Railway Zone, denied reports of a large-scale stone-pelting, clarifying that only one stone had been thrown at the train, not multiple as initially reported.
No Major Incident, Says Railway Official
Earlier reports had suggested that several stones were thrown at the train, some of which broke windows and entered the coach, causing panic among passengers. However, CPRO Shashikant Tripathi clarified that no such large-scale attack occurred, and only one stone hit the train. Additionally, no arrests have been made so far in connection with the incident.
The RPF team, led by Sub-Inspector S.P. Saroj, reached the location promptly, but the train had already left the area by then. Despite earlier rumors of significant damage and multiple stones being thrown, the CPRO has confirmed that it was an isolated incident with no serious consequences.
