In a decisive move, the central government has dismissed former IAS officer Pooja Khedkar from the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) with immediate effect. Official sources revealed this development on Saturday. Khedkar faces allegations of fraud and the improper use of benefits meant for the Other Backward Classes (OBC) and persons with disabilities to secure her position in the civil service. Despite these allegations, Khedkar has denied any wrongdoing. The dismissal is based on a September 6, 2024, order, which cites Rule 12 of the IAS (Probation) Rules, 1954. This rule grants the government the authority to remove a probationer if they fail to pass re-examination or are deemed unfit for service.
