A video capturing a chaotic scene in Bihar has gone viral, showing people fleeing a bridge as the Kosi River swells due to severe flooding. Heavy rains have affected the state, causing major rivers, including the Kosi and Bagmati, to overflow their banks.
Flood Situation in Bihar
The government has issued warnings to residents, advising them to stay away from low-lying areas, particularly near rivers. The Kosi River’s water level has risen significantly in recent days, prompting authorities to declare a high alert.
In the viral video shared by Rajya Sabha MP Ranjeet Ranjan, a crowd of frightened people can be seen sprinting off the bridge, screaming as the river’s fast-flowing water approaches.
“The river is in spate due to the rising water level of the Kosi dam. I appeal to residents of Supaul, Saharsa, Madhepura, Madhubani, Darbhanga, Khagaria, Bhagalpur, Katihar, and Navgachiya to stay away from the dam and follow the district administration’s alerts,” he stated, emphasizing the need for safety.
