NAVSARI, GUJARAT: A 26-year-old man has been arrested in Navsari district for his alleged role in the death of a nursing student following a sexual encounter. The tragic incident took place on September 23 when the woman began bleeding heavily after the two were together at a hotel. Instead of calling for immediate medical assistance, the accused reportedly spent around 90 minutes searching the internet for remedies.
DELAY IN SEEKING MEDICAL ASSISTANCE
Investigators revealed that instead of taking the victim to the hospital, the man used his phone to look up solutions for stopping bleeding during intercourse. This delay in obtaining medical help is believed to have contributed significantly to her death. Reports indicate that the accused even tried to continue the sexual encounter despite the woman’s critical condition.
The Jalalpore police have charged the suspect with culpable homicide not amounting to murder, as well as destruction of evidence.
FORENSIC FINDINGS AND POSTMORTEM REPORT
Navsari Superintendent of Police Sushil Agrawal stated that forensic analysis confirmed the woman died from excessive blood loss. “The forensic report indicated she died due to severe bleeding. Instead of calling emergency services or seeking medical help, he contacted his friends and waited for them to arrive before transferring her in a private vehicle. Had she received immediate emergency care with IV fluids, blood, and medications, she might have survived,” Agrawal explained.
The postmortem report revealed that the severe injuries sustained by the woman in her private parts led to haemorrhagic shock, ultimately resulting in her death. The victim was a first-year nursing student who had reconnected with the accused through social media seven months prior to the incident.
CIRCUMSTANCES SURROUNDING THE ARREST
According to police reports, after noticing the bleeding, the man chose to stay in the hotel for an extended period of time—between 60 and 90 minutes—before taking any action. The victim was pronounced dead at the hospital at 2:15 PM. Additionally, the accused allegedly cleaned up bloodstains in the hotel room in an effort to conceal the incident.
He has been remanded in police custody by a local court until October 4. Investigators are working to piece together the events of that day and assess the extent of evidence destruction.
