ITIs’ Temporary Staff Tenure Extended by One Year

Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has approved a one-year extension for the tenure of 229 temporary employees at Delhi’s Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs). These employees, who are on contract as Craft Instructors, will now serve from August 1, 2024, to July 31, 2025. This extension is provided until permanent appointments are made, as per the proposal from the Department of Training and Technical Education.

The Technical Education Department (TED) had requested this extension, and the process for permanent appointments to 258 positions is already underway. These employees will continue to provide services across Delhi’s 19 government ITIs, where their timely reappointment is crucial for managing senior and junior training classes.

Earlier, in September 2023, the Lieutenant Governor had approved the extension of these employees’ services. He has emphasized filling vacant positions through established government processes rather than relying on contract-based appointments.
