Hyderabad Student Rescued from 20-Day Ordeal: Victim Held Captive and Assaulted by Online Acquaintance

HYDERABAD: A student from Bhainsa, Telangana, endured a nightmare over 20 days as she was held captive and repeatedly assaulted by an acquaintance she met through Instagram. Fortunately, swift intervention by Hyderabad’s SHE Teams led to her rescue and the apprehension of the perpetrator.

The ordeal began when the student was tricked by an Instagram acquaintance into traveling to Hyderabad, where she was then confined to a hotel room. Her harrowing situation was revealed when she managed to send her location to her parents via WhatsApp. The concerned parents immediately contacted SHE Teams Hyderabad for urgent assistance.

Responding promptly, the SHE Teams tracked the student’s location to a hotel in Narayanaguda. Within a matter of hours, they executed a successful rescue operation. The accused faces charges under sections 64 (2) (m), 127 (4), and 316 (2) of BNS, covering offenses of sexual assault and unlawful confinement.

In a related matter, SHE Teams addressed another troubling case involving a student from a prominent culinary institute in Hyderabad. The student reported sustained harassment from several classmates, which included inappropriate behavior and offensive comments. After a thorough investigation, legal action was initiated against the perpetrators under section 79 r/w 3(5) of BNS.

SHE Teams have also issued a strong caution to the culinary academy’s administration, emphasizing the need for stricter measures to ensure a safe environment for students.
