Dengue Cases Surge in Patna: Patliputra Emerges as the New Hotspot, 50 New Infections Reported

Patna: The dengue and chikungunya outbreak in Patna continues to worsen as 50 new dengue cases have been reported in the last 24 hours, bringing the total count of infected individuals to 1,331. The Patliputra area has now become the latest hotspot for the virus, overtaking Kankarbagh and Azeemabad. Over the past three days, 50 cases have emerged from Patliputra alone, with 13 of them recorded on Thursday. Other areas seeing new cases include Azeemabad with 11, Kankarbagh with 6, Nutan Rajdhani with 3, and Bankipur and Patna City with one case each. The Civil Surgeon’s office could not trace the origin of seven patients.

106 New Dengue Cases Across Bihar

According to Civil Surgeon Dr. Mithileshwar Kumar, the virus has spread beyond Patna city into rural areas, with seven cases identified across the district. Sampatchak reported two cases, while Bakhtiyarpur, Danapur, Dulhin Bazar, Fatuha, and Patna Sadar each recorded one case. In addition, seven new chikungunya cases have been confirmed in Patna, increasing the total number of chikungunya cases in the city to 59. Across Bihar, 106 new dengue cases have been identified, bringing the state’s total dengue cases this year to 2,726.

Outside of Patna, Nalanda reported eight new cases, Jehanabad six, Munger and Gaya five each, Vaishali four, and Begusarai three.

Dengue Cases Rising in Begusarai

The spread of dengue in Begusarai remains a cause for concern as four new cases were reported on Thursday. The increasing number of infections, coupled with stagnant water due to recent rains, has further worsened the situation, heightening public worry about the ongoing outbreak.

Madhubani Reports One New Case, Total Climbs to 11

In Madhubani, dengue cases have now risen to 11, prompting the local health department to remain on high alert. Additionally, 25 individuals have been identified as district residents, although their travel history does not indicate exposure to the virus within the district. Of the 11 confirmed cases, 10 are from rural areas, while one is from Nandnagar in the municipal zone. Unfortunately, one patient, Kishun Lal Sah, passed away during treatment at PMCH.

Health authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant and take preventive measures to control the spread of the virus.
