Bengaluru – The Karnataka Police have submitted a chilling chargesheet in the high-profile kidnap and murder case involving jailed Kannada superstar Darshan. The document details the brutal torture inflicted on the victim, Renukaswamy, and implicates Darshan and his associates in the heinous crime.
Details of the Chargesheet
According to the chargesheet, Renukaswamy suffered severe injuries at the hands of Darshan and his gang. The document reports that Renukaswamy had 39 injury marks on his body, with broken chest bones and a deep head wound. Disturbingly, the report reveals that a megger device, typically used for measuring insulation resistance, was employed to deliver electric shocks to Renukaswamy’s private parts, causing severe damage to his testicles.
The chargesheet further describes the inhumane torture endured by Renukaswamy before his murder, including being hacked to death. After the crime, Darshan and his co-accused allegedly used their influence and resources to dispose of the body, destroy evidence, and frame others to avoid prosecution.
Legal Proceedings
Darshan, identified as the second accused in the case, is now preparing to file a bail plea. However, his situation is complicated by new charges related to alleged luxury treatment inside prison, making bail less likely. The police have found evidence linking Darshan to the crime, including traces of Renukaswamy’s blood on his clothing and incriminating messages exchanged by his associates.
Darshan was arrested by a Bengaluru Police team led by ACP Chandan Kumar at a Mysuru hotel, where he was staying while shooting for his film “Devil.” Reports indicate that Darshan resisted arrest, but ACP Kumar enforced the arrest order, warning of further action if necessary.
Impact on the Kannada Film Industry
The Kannada film industry, which has been gaining national recognition, faces a significant setback due to these revelations. Darshan, a prominent figure in the industry, is now entangled in legal troubles that cast a shadow over his career.
Charges and Case Volumes
In the chargesheet, Pavithra Gowda is listed as the first accused (A-1) and Darshan as the second accused (A-2). Fourteen individuals are charged with murder, while another fourteen face charges related to abduction and murder. Karthik alias Kappe, Keshavamurthy, and Nikhil Nayak are specifically charged with evidence destruction.
The chargesheet is divided into several volumes:
- Volume 1: Summary report of the case.
- Volume 2: Voluntary statements from 17 accused individuals.
- Volume 3: Details of both direct and circumstantial evidence.
- Volume 4: Post-mortem and Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) reports.
- Volume 5: Analysis from FSL and CSFL.
The case is expected to move to the sessions court after the 24th ACMM court receives copies of the chargesheet for all accused parties.
