Afghanistan has included three uncapped players in their 16-member squad for the lone Test against New Zealand, starting September 9 in Greater Noida. The new additions are opening batsman Riaz Hassan, all-rounder Shamsur Rahman, and fast bowler Khaleel Ahmed. Star all-rounder Rashid Khan, who is recovering from an injury, is not part of the squad. In Rashid’s absence, Zaheer Khan and Zia Ur Rahman will lead Afghanistan’s spin attack.
The Afghanistan Cricket Board announced that the team selection was based on the players’ performance during the preparation camp. Approximately 19 players participated in the camp, which lasted around 10 days in Greater Noida.
