UNION MINISTER GIRIRAJ SINGH CALLS FOR NRC ACROSS INDIA, ACCUSES WAQF BOARD OF ILLEGAL LAND GRABS

In response to statements by Himachal Pradesh’s Panchayati Raj and Rural Development Minister Anirudh Singh regarding the presence of immigrants in the state, Union Minister Giriraj Singh has called for a nationwide implementation of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) and demanded clarification from Rahul Gandhi. Singh also accused the WAQF Board of illegally occupying lands.

Singh criticized Rahul Gandhi’s opposition to NRC, stating, “While NRC is met with resistance from Rahul Gandhi, a Himachal Pradesh minister, in the presence of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, has advocated for its implementation. NRC is crucial for the entire country to prevent the extinction of Indian origins.”

Singh further alleged that some mosques, including those in Himachal Pradesh, are being misused for extremist activities. “Minister Anirudh Singh has highlighted concerns about infiltrators and illegal constructions, pointing out that after the partition, thousands of mosques were reportedly built unlawfully. Some of these places are purportedly involved in terror activities,” he claimed.

He also took aim at the WAQF Board, questioning the increase in its property holdings. “During the Congress regime, the WAQF Board was granted excessive rights to land, leading to numerous disputes. This has resulted in halted railway projects and land seizures from farmers in Karnataka,” Singh said.

Singh accused Lok Sabha MP Asaduddin Owaisi of trying to provoke a second partition of India, alleging that Owaisi’s rhetoric incites division. “Owaisi’s statements are a threat to national unity. Unlike in Pakistan or Bangladesh, where dissenting voices are suppressed, Owaisi continues to stoke controversy here,” he added.

In contrast, Congress Minister Anirudh Singh emphasized the longstanding peaceful coexistence of the Muslim community in Himachal Pradesh. Singh acknowledged concerns about the recent influx of people from other states and stressed the need for proper verification to address security risks.

“There is no religious bias in our approach; the focus is on ensuring that newcomers are thoroughly vetted to prevent any security threats,” Singh explained.

He also mentioned the necessity of investigating individuals from foreign countries and ensuring that the region remains secure. “The Congress government is committed to lawful development and is not influenced by religious biases,” Singh assured.

Singh urged for stringent measures to manage migration and maintain legal standards, reiterating that the issue transcends religious boundaries and centers on legality and security.

The controversy surrounding the Sanjauli Mosque continues to fuel political debate in Himachal Pradesh, with differing viewpoints from BJP and Congress leaders.
