A train engine derailed in the railway yard of Gaya Junction Station on Saturday. Officials reported that the incident occurred during “shunting,” a process of moving the engine from one track to another, when one of the front wheels came off the track. At the time of the incident, the engine was not attached to any coaches. Fortunately, no casualties were reported in this incident.
Chief Public Relations Officer of East Central Railway, Saraswati Chandra, stated, “On Saturday morning, an engine without any coaches derailed in the Gaya Junction railway station yard. Since the derailment occurred in the yard, it did not affect the movement of other trains.” Mechanical and technical staff quickly restored the engine to its position after the derailment.
Meanwhile, on Friday, another incident was reported in the Gaya division. Near the Paharpur railway station, the coupling of a goods train broke. The goods train was en route from Koderma to Gaya. The incident occurred around 10:08 PM on Friday, but there were no injuries. Officials said the repairs, including fixing the coupling, were completed, and the train resumed its journey at 10:48 PM.
