Jindal Faces Competition from 4 Parties: Savitri will face candidates from BJP, Congress, INLD, and JJP, with the main competition being against BJP’s Dr. Kamal Gupta. Both have previously contested against each other in 2014, with Savitri, then a Congress candidate, losing.

Kolkata Rape-Murder Case: Former Principal Ordered Renovation Near Crime Scene the Day After

The next day after the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata, Principal Sandeep Ghosh ordered renovation of rooms adjacent to the seminar hall where the body was found. According to CBI, Ghosh wrote a letter on August 10 requesting renovation of the rooms and toilets. Renovation work began on August 13 but was halted after student protests accusing the administration of tampering with evidence. Ghosh was arrested by CBI on September 2 for financial irregularities.

Ghosh’s Urgency for Renovation: CBI suggests that Ghosh’s swift action might link the renovation order to the rape-murder case and ongoing financial irregularities investigations.

Rahul Gandhi: Congress Will Conduct Caste Census, RSS Now Supports It

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi addressed a rally in Sangli, Maharashtra, stating that Congress is committed to conducting a caste census to understand the population and conditions of different communities. He criticized RSS-BJP for previously opposing the census but now finding it necessary.
