Haryana Election 2024: BJP Releases First List of 67 Candidates; Former Jailer Who Granted Parole to Gurmeet Ram Rahim Also Gets Ticket
The BJP has released its first list of candidates for the Haryana Assembly Elections, covering 67 seats. The list includes 25 new faces. Eight ministers have been given tickets again, while eight MLAs have been denied tickets. The list also includes eight female candidates. CM Manohar Lal Khattar will contest from the Karnal seat. Anil Vij will contest from Ambala Cantt.
The list also includes former jailer Sunil Sangwan, who granted parole to Gurmeet Ram Rahim six times. Sunil joined the BJP three days ago. Voting for all 90 seats in Haryana will take place on October 5, with results to be announced on October 8.
JJP and ASP Candidate Lists:
The Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) and Chandra Shekhar Ravan’s Aazad Samaj Party (ASP) have released their first list of 19 candidates. This includes former Deputy CM Dushyant Chautala and two MLAs. In 2019, the BJP and JJP alliance formed the government in the state.

Wrestlers Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia met Rahul Gandhi and Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal in Delhi. Both are likely to contest the Assembly Elections on Congress tickets. According to sources, Vinesh has been offered three seats and Bajrang two seats to choose from. Vinesh may contest from Jind’s Julana, Dadri, or Badhra, while Bajrang may contest from Bahadurgarh or Bhiwani.

Congress and AAP are discussing an alliance. Congress’s state in-charge Deepak Babaria and AAP’s Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha met to discuss the alliance. According to sources, Congress has offered single-digit seats to its allies. Congress is willing to give AAP 5 seats and one seat each to CPI, CPM, SP, and NCP. However, AAP is demanding 10 seats. Haryana Congress’s first list may be released today.

Supreme Court Rebukes ED in Money Laundering Case, Asks Why Documents Were Not Shown to Accused
The Supreme Court reprimanded the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money laundering case, questioning why the agency did not provide seized documents to the accused during the investigation. The court said, “Can we be so harsh as to not provide documents to the person facing the case and say the documents are safe? The accused has the right to demand documents.”

The world’s oldest crocodile, Henry, found in the Nile River, has been recognized as the oldest crocodile. This 16-foot-long, 700-kilogram crocodile is 123 years old. It was born on December 16, 1900, in Botswana’s Okavango Delta. Henry has 10,000 offspring from 6 mating partners.
In 1900, Henry began attacking children in a community in Botswana. In 1903, famous hunter Sir Henry Newman captured it. The hunter decided not to kill the crocodile. It was named ‘Henry’ after the hunter.
