The Jharkhand State Service Commission (JSSC) has set up a three-member committee to probe alleged irregularities in the Common Graduate Level (CGL) exam conducted by the commission. The decision to form the committee was announced on Friday, September 27, and the investigation began the same night. The commission has issued notices to six individuals, including two coaching center directors, asking them to clarify their positions and cooperate with the investigation.
Committee Led by JSSC Secretary Sudhir Kumar Gupta
The committee will be chaired by JSSC Secretary Sudhir Kumar Gupta. Along with Gupta, the commission’s Joint Secretary, Madhumita Kumari, and Deputy Secretary cum Examination Controller, Arvind Kumar Lal, have been appointed as members. Their task is to look into the complaints of irregularities that surfaced during the JSSC CGL 2023 examination.
Report to be Submitted in One Week
The Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) has stated that the committee will submit its investigation report within a week. Complaints regarding the exam were made by student groups and the main opposition party in Jharkhand, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Leader of the Opposition Amar Bauri had accused the authorities of “selling jobs” in connection with the exam.
Six Individuals Summoned for Questioning
The committee has summoned six people for questioning, including Kunal Pratap Singh from the Exam Fighter Coaching Center. Four others, who were candidates in the JGGLCCE 2023 exam, and Prem Lal Thakur, have also been asked to appear for questioning on September 30, 2024.
Complaint Details and Evidence Submission
The six individuals who lodged the complaints have been sent letters by the investigation committee. These individuals had filed grievances on September 26, 2024, regarding irregularities in the Jharkhand General Graduate Level Combined Competitive Examination (JGGLCCE) 2023. As evidence, they submitted a CD, a pen drive, and a 54-page document, though the commission has pointed out that the original copies of the CD and pen drive were not provided.
Request for Original Evidence
In the letter, the complainants have been asked to submit the original pen drive and CD to assist in concluding the investigation promptly. They are required to present themselves at the commission’s office at 3 PM on September 30, 2024, to clarify their stance and cooperate with the probe.
Governor’s Directive Leads to Formation of Committee
Earlier, JSSC Chairman Prashant Kumar had dismissed the allegations during a press conference, challenging anyone with proof of wrongdoing to present it, promising that the exam would be canceled if evidence was found. However, based on complaints, Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar instructed the government to ensure the credibility of the JSSC. As a result, the committee was formed to investigate the irregularities.
