The Railway Protection Force (RPF) has arrested five individuals for allegedly pelting stones at the Durg-Visakhapatnam Vande Bharat Express train during its trial run in the Mahasamund district of Chhattisgarh. Officials provided this information on Saturday. RPF Inspector (Mahasamund) Praveen Singh Dhakad stated that the incident took place around 9 PM on Friday near Bagbahra railway station, as the train was returning to Durg from Visakhapatnam during the trial run.
The train had departed from Durg for its trial run and reached Mahasamund after passing through Raipur. It began its journey onward at 7:10 AM on Friday. On its return journey, some miscreants threw stones at the moving train near Bagbahra, resulting in damage to the windows of coaches C2, C4, and C9. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident.
The train’s onboard security team immediately reported the incident, prompting a security team to be dispatched to the scene. Following the investigation, five residents of Bagbahra—Shiv Kumar Baghel, Devendra Chandrakar, Jeetu Tandi, Lekhraj Sonwani, and Arjun Yadav—were arrested. All five have been charged under Section 153 of the Railways Act, 1989.
