Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has condemned Rahul Gandhi’s recent visit to the United States, accusing the Leader of the Opposition of damaging India’s reputation abroad. Chouhan labeled Gandhi’s comments as “anti-national” and suggested that such behavior is unbecoming of a patriot.
Gandhi, during his visit, addressed the Indian diaspora in Dallas and voiced concerns about the lack of love, respect, and humility in Indian politics. He also criticized the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) for promoting a singular vision of India and highlighted the need for increased manufacturing to tackle unemployment, contrasting this with China’s dominant position in global production.
In response, Chouhan criticized Gandhi for allegedly spoiling India’s image on foreign soil and suggested that Gandhi’s frustration over the Congress party’s electoral losses might be behind his comments. He defended the RSS, praising its contributions to India, and rejected Gandhi’s claims about India being overly reliant on Chinese products.
Chouhan also responded to Gandhi’s statements about Prime Minister Narendra Modi, asserting that Modi’s continued popularity and election victories demonstrate widespread support.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge defended Gandhi, asserting that his comments were not intended to insult India and criticizing the BJP for using the issue to deflect attention.
