In a recent meeting held in Palakkad, Kerala, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has outlined its major goals for the coming years. The three key issues discussed were conducting a caste census, implementing 33% reservation for women, and reaching out to 30 crore Hindu families through the “Kuttumb Prabodhan” campaign. The RSS plans to directly advise the government on these matters and has set a target to integrate 30 crore Hindu families into its network.
Caste Census and Women’s Reservation: RSS’s Stand
The RSS’s stance on caste census has resolved the BJP’s dilemma, as the party had previously struggled to take a clear position on the issue. The RSS believes that no steps should be taken regarding changes in the creamy layer of reservation without consulting the communities involved and gaining their consensus.
The RSS is focusing on getting 33% reservation for women in Parliament by 2029. This agenda was emphasized in the meeting, with RSS members highlighting their efforts to mobilize support from women across various constituencies.
Expanding Reach through Kuttumb Prabodhan
The RSS plans to utilize its “Kuttumb Prabodhan” campaign, which began in 2013, to reach 30 crore Hindu families. This initiative is seen as crucial for rallying support and fostering unity within families, which the RSS believes will strengthen the nation. The organization aims to replicate the success of its previous campaigns, such as the one for the Ram Janmabhoomi movement.
Building Connections with All Hindu Castes
The RSS is determined to build connections with all castes that adhere to Hinduism. This goal, which was set forth during a 1972 meeting, is still ongoing. The RSS plans to achieve this by creating a “Samrasata Manch” to facilitate dialogue and integration across various castes.
Harmonizing RSS and BJP Relations
The meeting also addressed the relationship between the RSS and BJP. Despite a previous assertion by BJP President J.P. Nadda that the party is now self-reliant, the RSS reaffirmed its central role in guiding the party. Discussions between RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat and BJP leaders have reaffirmed the collaborative approach between the two organizations.
Future Cooperation and Social Issues
The RSS plans to work closely with the government in the future, ensuring that both parties collaborate effectively. The organization also discussed various social issues, including the recent case of the rape and murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata. The RSS emphasized the need for legal reforms, social awareness, and self-defense training as part of a comprehensive plan to address such crimes.
Uniform Civil Code and Bangladesh
The RSS expressed its support for the Uniform Civil Code, noting its previous engagement with the public on this issue. Additionally, concerns were raised about the situation of Hindus and minorities in Bangladesh, with the RSS advocating for diplomatic efforts to ensure their safety.
Election Strategy
The RSS has already begun preparing for upcoming elections, with its workers actively engaging with the public. However, specific discussions on election strategies were not the focus of this meeting, as the RSS continues to support its candidates in various states.
Overall, the RSS is committed to addressing these significant issues and expanding its influence across the nation.
