New York, USA: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his three-day visit to the United States, held a significant roundtable meeting with top technology leaders, including Google CEO Sundar Pichai, and other major industry figures. During the meeting, Modi urged them to capitalize on India’s rapid growth for enhanced collaboration and innovation.

The discussions focused on emerging areas such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), quantum computing, biotechnology, IT and communication technologies, and semiconductor advancements, according to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).

In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi expressed his satisfaction with the discussions, stating, “Had a fruitful roundtable with tech CEOs in New York, discussing aspects relating to technology, innovation and more. Also highlighted the strides made by India in this field. I am glad to see immense optimism towards India.”


Modi thanked the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) for organizing the roundtable and emphasized that initiatives such as the India-US Initiative on Critical and Emerging Technologies (ICET) are central to the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership.

Focus on India’s Technological Growth

During the meeting, the Prime Minister assured business leaders of India’s strong commitment to protecting intellectual property and fostering a climate for tech innovation. He invited companies to co-develop, co-design, and co-produce cutting-edge technologies in India, highlighting the nation’s potential as a global leader in the semiconductor industry. He added that his government is committed to making India a global hub for semiconductor manufacturing.

Modi also discussed India’s BIO E3 policy, which aims to position India as a biotech powerhouse, and underlined the country’s policy of promoting AI for All, ensuring the ethical and responsible use of Artificial Intelligence.

The CEOs present at the meeting expressed a keen interest in investing in India and collaborating with Indian startups. They highlighted that the innovative landscape in India provides ample opportunities for growth and technological development.

Tech Leaders Praise Modi’s Vision

Google CEO Sundar Pichai, speaking to ANI, praised Modi’s vision for technology and its role in transforming India. “He pushed us to continue making in India, designing in India. We are proud to now make our Pixel phones in India. He is really thinking about how AI can transform India, especially in healthcare, education, and agriculture,” Pichai said.

Pichai emphasized the importance of infrastructure, such as data centers, power, and energy, to support India’s transition into a technological powerhouse. He added, “We are proud to partner with India and are robustly investing in AI. Modi’s clear vision is to ensure that AI benefits the people of India, and he is challenging us to do more.”
