The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has charged four individuals—Mussavir Hussain Shazib, Abdul Matheen Ahmed Taaha, Maaz Muneer Ahmed, and Muzammil Shareef—in connection with the Rameshwaram Cafe blast case in Bengaluru. The explosion on March 1, which injured nine people and extensively damaged the café, has been linked to ISIS radicals. The NIA’s investigation revealed that Shazib and Taaha, who were previously absconding, were funded through cryptocurrency for their violent activities.
According to the NIA, Taaha and Shazib were responsible for planning and executing the blast. They had used fraudulently obtained SIM cards and bank accounts, as well as documents downloaded from the Dark Web. The investigation also uncovered their involvement in radicalizing other individuals to ISIS ideology, including Maaz Muneer Ahmed and Muzammil Shareef.
The charge sheet, filed in a special NIA court in Bengaluru, details how the accused were involved in various violent activities, including a failed IED attack on the BJP office in Bengaluru on January 22. The NIA’s probe has linked the accused to the Al-Hind ISIS module and other radical networks, exposing a complex web of extremist connections.
