An attempt was made to derail the Kalindi Express in Uttar Pradesh by placing an LPG cylinder and a petrol-filled bottle on the tracks. This is yet another alarming instance of rogue elements trying to cause a deadly derailment, similar to past incidents targeting Indian Railways trains.

Just weeks ago, the Sabarmati Express derailed after hitting a large boulder placed on the tracks, and shortly after, the Vande Bharat Express narrowly escaped sabotage when iron pieces and cement blocks were found on its path in Rajasthan’s Pali district.

Now, in this latest case, the Kalindi Express, en route from Prayagraj to Bhiwani, was targeted on the Kanpur-Kasganj route near Muderi village. Alongside the LPG cylinder, a bottle of petrol and a matchbox were also discovered, suggesting the intention was not just to derail the train but possibly to cause an explosion.

Quick Response Averts Disaster

The loco pilot’s vigilance averted a major disaster when the train struck the LPG cylinder early Sunday morning. Upon noticing the obstruction, the pilot immediately applied emergency brakes, preventing the train from crashing into the explosive materials. The impact caused the cylinder to be flung away from the tracks, and no injuries were reported.

According to Kanpur Police, the cylinder was placed near the Shivrajpur area. Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Harish Chandra confirmed that the loco pilot saw the cylinder and acted swiftly to halt the train. The incident occurred around 8:20 a.m., and senior officials promptly arrived at the site to investigate.

Ongoing Investigation

The Railway Protection Force (RPF) and a forensics team are now investigating the matter to track down the individuals responsible for the sabotage. Authorities are treating this case with the highest urgency and have vowed strict punishment for the culprits.

After the incident, the train remained on-site for approximately 20 minutes before moving to Bilhaur station for further inspection. The damaged LPG cylinder was recovered, and efforts are underway to identify the criminals behind this malicious act.

Series of Sabotage Attempts

This incident follows a troubling pattern of sabotage attempts against Indian Railways. With recent attacks on the Sabarmati Express and Vande Bharat Express, railway authorities are on high alert to ensure the safety of passengers and prevent further incidents.

Authorities have called for increased security measures and patrols along key railway routes to prevent such sabotage attempts from endangering more lives.

While no injuries occurred in this incident, the discovery of explosives on the tracks highlights the growing threat of sabotage against Indian Railways. As investigations continue, passengers and authorities alike remain vigilant, hoping to bring those responsible to justice and secure the safety of the nation’s railways.
