Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeep will have a television installed in his jail cell following his request, officials confirmed on Saturday. Darshan, who has been involved in a high-profile murder case, had been transferred from Bengaluru’s Parappana Agrahara Central Jail to Bellary on August 29, after a controversial photograph surfaced showing him with three other people in the jail’s yard.
A senior jail officer stated that Darshan had requested a television in his cell to keep up with developments related to his case and events happening outside. According to jail procedures and guidelines, the television is expected to be installed by Monday.
Darshan, along with his friend and Kannada actress Pavitra Gowda and 15 other accused, is currently in judicial custody in various state prisons. The case involves the murder of Renukaswamy, who had allegedly sent obscene messages to Pavitra, causing Darshan to reportedly take drastic action against him. One of the accused, Raghavendra, a member of Darshan’s fan club from Chitradurga, had allegedly lured Renukaswamy to a shed in Bengaluru’s RR Nagar under the pretense of a meeting with the actor.
