Haryana Polls: AAP Unveils First Candidate List Amid Stalled Congress Alliance Talks

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has released its first list of 20 candidates for the Haryana assembly elections, featuring notable names such as Haryana unit vice president Anurag Dhanda for Kalayat and Indu Sharma for Bhiwani. Vikas Nehra will contest from Meham, and Bijender Hooda from Rohtak. This announcement comes amid stalled pre-poll alliance talks with Congress, which have faltered over the number of seats each party will contest. AAP is demanding 10 seats, while Congress is offering five.

AAP’s state unit chief Sushil Gupta indicated that if an alliance agreement isn’t reached by the evening, the party will finalize its candidate list. Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha, who led the talks, mentioned that a decision will be made before the September 12 deadline for filing nominations. AAP’s Sanjay Singh emphasized that the party is ready and well-prepared for the elections, with all candidate selections complete pending final approval. The Haryana assembly election is set for October 5, with results to be announced on October 8.
