Gujarat Police Seizes 518 Kilograms of Cocaine Worth ₹5,000 Crore: 5 Arrested in Major Crackdown

Gujarat Police conducted a raid on the warehouse of Avkar Drugs Limited in Ankleshwar, seizing 518 kilograms of cocaine valued at approximately ₹5,000 crore in the international market. During this operation, five individuals were arrested. This raid was part of a joint operation by the police from Delhi and Gujarat, which has been targeting a drug trafficking syndicate for the past 12 days.

Third Major Raid on the Drug Syndicate, ₹13,000 Crore Worth of Drugs Seized So Far

This was the third major raid on the syndicate in the last 12 days. Police have seized a total of 1,289 kilograms of drugs from this international drug syndicate, valued at nearly ₹13,000 crore. Earlier raids on October 2 and 10 in Delhi resulted in the recovery of 560 kilograms and 208 kilograms of cocaine, respectively.

Syndicate Operated from Dubai

The drug trafficking operation was being managed from Dubai. Police reported that the mastermind of the syndicate is Virender Basoya, who runs several businesses in Dubai. A lookout circular has been issued against Basoya, and efforts are underway to apprehend him.

Members Worked Under Code Names

Investigations revealed that most members of the syndicate did not know each other. Their communications occurred via social media, and each member was assigned a code name, keeping their true identities concealed. Authorities suspect that this shipment of drugs was brought from South America to Goa via maritime routes before being transported to Delhi.

Major Seizures in Delhi

Several significant operations related to this syndicate also took place in Delhi. On October 2, 560 kilograms of cocaine and 40 kilograms of marijuana were seized in the Mahrauli area of South Delhi. Additionally, on October 10, 208 kilograms of cocaine, hidden in packets of snacks, was recovered from a rented shop in Ramesh Nagar, West Delhi. In these incidents, a total of seven individuals were arrested by the Delhi Police.

Delhi Police’s Operation ‘Kavach’

For the past two months, Delhi Police have been monitoring this syndicate. Their operation, named ‘Kavach,’ targets drug traffickers, leading to multiple arrests. Under this operation, on September 30, police also seized 228 kilograms of marijuana valued at approximately ₹1.14 crore in the international market.

Large Drug Seizure in Bhopal

In addition to operations in Delhi and Gujarat, a significant drug syndicate was also busted in Bhopal. On October 5, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and Gujarat ATS raided a factory in Bhopal, where they recovered MD drugs worth ₹1,800 crore. Two individuals were also arrested during this operation.

Continuous Police Action Against Drugs

This operation highlights the intensified efforts of law enforcement against drug trafficking in India. The ongoing large-scale operations and the substantial quantities of drugs seized indicate a robust crackdown on trafficking activities.
