A 26-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death of a nursing student in Navsari, Gujarat, following a severe medical emergency that occurred after a sexual encounter. The incident took place on September 23, when the woman began bleeding heavily after the encounter. Instead of seeking immediate medical assistance, the accused reportedly spent around 90 minutes searching online for remedies to stop the bleeding.
According to investigators, after the woman started bleeding, the accused chose to use his phone to look for solutions instead of contacting medical professionals. This delay in seeking urgent help was identified as a significant factor contributing to the woman’s death from excessive blood loss due to severe injuries.
Authorities revealed that the accused attempted to continue the sexual encounter despite the woman’s critical condition. The Jalalpore police have charged him with culpable homicide not amounting to murder, as well as destruction of evidence.
Navsari Superintendent of Police, Sushil Agrawal, stated that forensic reports confirmed the cause of death was excessive bleeding. He highlighted that the accused failed to call for emergency services, opting instead to contact friends and transport the victim in a private vehicle after waiting for them. “Had she received emergency medical aid with IV fluids, blood, and medications, she would have survived,” Agrawal remarked.
The postmortem report indicated that severe injuries in the woman’s private parts led to haemorrhagic shock, ultimately resulting in her death. The victim was a first-year nursing student in Navsari and had recently reconnected with the accused through social media seven months prior to the incident.
This tragic case raises serious concerns about the responsibilities of individuals in emergency situations and the critical importance of seeking timely medical assistance.
