Former RG Kar Dean Sandip Ghosh Accused of Molesting Male Student in Hong Kong

Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of RG Kar Medical College, has been accused of molesting a male nursing student during a clinical attachment program in Hong Kong in 2017. The allegations come as Ghosh remains in judicial custody in India over separate financial irregularities.

According to a report by Hong Kong’s South China Morning Post, the male student claims Ghosh indecently touched him while he was changing clothes at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Yau Ma Tei. The student alleges that Ghosh patted his left buttock and attempted to touch his private parts, making inappropriate comments.

Ghosh, who was participating in the clinical program at the time, has denied the allegations. He asserts that any physical contact was accidental and that the incident was a misunderstanding.

This revelation comes amid ongoing controversy surrounding Ghosh in India. He is currently under investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for financial mismanagement at RG Kar Medical College, where he served as principal. Ghosh is also implicated in a separate, high-profile case involving the rape and murder of a postgraduate doctor at the college. The case has drawn significant scrutiny, with accusations that Ghosh attempted to obstruct justice by ordering renovations near the crime scene, potentially destroying evidence.

The deceased doctor’s family has criticized the hospital authorities for initially misreporting the cause of death as suicide, only for the autopsy to reveal signs of rape and murder.

The Enforcement Directorate is also probing Ghosh for alleged financial misconduct during his tenure at the college, including claims of misappropriated funds.

As investigations continue, the case has sparked widespread outrage and calls for accountability across both Hong Kong and India.
