On Monday, the Indian Army and Air Force signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya, India’s pioneering university dedicated to transportation and logistics. This agreement aims to advance the logistics expertise of personnel within the armed forces.
The MoU is designed to enhance the in-house logistics capabilities of the Army and Air Force, aligning with national development initiatives such as the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan 2021 and the National Logistics Policy 2022. These frameworks focus on improving multimodal connectivity and streamlining logistics operations across economic zones.
The agreement was formalized in the presence of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya, located in Vadodara and sponsored by the Ministry of Railways, will play a crucial role in this collaboration.
Defence Minister Singh emphasized the importance of efficient logistics for the rapid mobilization of forces and resource allocation. He highlighted that the MoU would significantly contribute to meeting the logistics needs of the armed forces through innovation and expertise.
Minister Vaishnaw expressed optimism about the partnership, stating that Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya would be instrumental in providing cutting-edge logistics education, research, and innovation to support the armed forces.
