Union Home Minister Amit Shah has launched a scathing attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and National Conference leader Omar Abdullah, accusing them of having an agenda to release terrorists following the upcoming elections in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K). Shah’s remarks were made during a rally in Loharu, Haryana, on Tuesday, as he criticized the opposition’s plans and defended the BJP’s stance on national security.
Key Accusations and Statements
Shah alleged that Rahul Gandhi and Omar Abdullah plan to release all terrorists once they are in power, initiate talks with Pakistan, and lift bans on terror organizations. He claimed that their agenda includes restoring Article 370, which granted special status to J&K before its abrogation in August 2019.
“Modi ji has strengthened the armed forces. But Rahul Gandhi has allied with Omar Abdullah. What is their agenda? It is to release all the terrorists after elections, to start talks with Pakistan, and to lift the bans on terror organisations,” Shah said.
He further emphasized that the BJP’s commitment to J&K is unwavering and that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, no harm will come to the region. Shah dismissed any notion of restoring Article 370, asserting, “The BJP is the party that believes that even the Pakistani part of Kashmir belongs to India.”
Accusations Against Congress in Haryana
In his rally, Shah also criticized the Congress party for allegedly promoting appeasement politics in Haryana. He claimed that “Pakistan Zindabad” slogans were being raised in the state, suggesting that the Congress is responsible for such divisive rhetoric.
Shah pointed out that thousands of youths from Haryana have sacrificed their lives for the nation, and accused the Congress of encouraging terrorism in Kashmir. He praised the BJP for its efforts to enhance sports facilities and infrastructure across the state.
Criticism of Bhupinder Singh Hooda
Shah took a swipe at Bhupinder Singh Hooda, the two-time chief minister of Haryana, questioning his record on Minimum Support Price (MSP) for crops. He highlighted that the current BJP government has significantly increased the number of crops purchased at MSP compared to Hooda’s tenure.
“I want to ask Hooda Ji how many crops he bought during his term at MSP. He bought only 4 crops at MSP. But today we are buying 24 types of crops. It is the ten-year BJP rule in Haryana in which the highest amount of crops have been bought at MSP. I want to tell you today that not even a single grain of crops produced in Haryana will be left unsold,” Shah asserted.
Upcoming Elections
The first phase of voting in Jammu and Kashmir is scheduled for Wednesday, with Haryana set to go to polls in a single phase on October 5. The counting of votes is expected to take place on October 8.
As political rhetoric intensifies, both the BJP and opposition parties are preparing for a contentious election season, with security and economic issues taking center stage.
