Kannada actor Darshan Thogudeepa has made a startling confession in the ongoing murder investigation involving the death of Renukaswamy. According to the chargesheet filed by the Bengaluru Police, Darshan admitted to kicking Renukaswamy repeatedly and striking him with a wooden branch. He also revealed that he instructed Pavithra Gowda to hit Renukaswamy with her slipper during the assault.
Renukaswamy, a 33-year-old Darshan fan, was found dead near a storm water drain in Karnataka’s Sumanahalli area on June 9. The investigation reveals that Renukaswamy had sent obscene messages to Gowda, which allegedly provoked Darshan. The accused, who were members of Darshan’s fan club, lured Renukaswamy to a shed in RR Nagar under the guise of a meeting with the actor. There, he was reportedly tortured before being killed. The post-mortem report confirmed that he died due to shock and hemorrhage from multiple blunt injuries.
Pavithra Gowda, identified as the primary accused in the chargesheet, is alleged to have played a significant role in instigating and participating in the crime. The police have submitted a comprehensive 3,991-page preliminary chargesheet to the court.
In response to the unfolding situation, Darshan has filed a writ petition in the High Court seeking an order to prevent media outlets from publishing or broadcasting details from the chargesheet. Following the circulation of a photograph showing him with others in the Parappana Agrahara Central prison, Darshan has been moved to Ballari jail.
