9th Grade Girl Commits Suicide Due to Ragging in Navodaya Vidyalaya, Body Found Hanging

Uttar Pradesh, a 14-year-old student named Anushka Patel, studying in 9th grade at Navodaya Vidyalaya, Baruasagar. She allegedly took her own life due to constant harassment from two senior students. Anushka, who was known for her academic excellence, was living in the school hostel. Her father, Jaihind, claimed that two senior students, Khushboo and Priyanka, were bullying her and often scolded her, which led to the distressing situation.

On Saturday, Anushka reportedly hanged herself using a scarf tied to the hostel staircase railing. The incident occurred while other students were away at the dining hall for dinner. When the students returned, they found Anushka’s body hanging.

Her father, in deep grief, shared that Anushka had called home three times on Saturday, mentioning her troubles. However, the family was unaware that she was going through such severe emotional distress and never imagined she would take such an extreme step.

Senior Students Ordered Anushka to Fetch Food

Jaihind, Anushka’s father, revealed that the senior students exploited Anushka by making her fetch food for them. On one occasion, when Anushka brought less food than expected, the seniors scolded her and demanded she get more. Anushka, trying to be polite, suggested they eat the food for now and that she would get more later. This harassment continued, contributing to her emotional breakdown.

Police Begin Investigation to Uncover True Cause of Death

Upon being informed, the Baruasagar police arrived at the Navodaya Vidyalaya and sent the body for postmortem. They have begun an investigation to determine the real reasons behind the suicide. Initial findings point to harassment by two senior students.

Superintendent of Police Gyanendra Kumar confirmed that Anushka, a 9th-grade student, took her own life at the age of 14. The investigation is ongoing to uncover the exact reasons behind this tragic event.
